FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. HOW DOES THE INTERIOR DESIGN PROCESS WORK WHEN ENGAGING YOUR SERVICES?
The first step is to complete the Consultation Form.
This gives us a good idea of your project requirements. Susie will then get in touch for a 15 minute phone consultation to discuss your needs in more detail.
From there we can arrange a two hour Introductory Consultation in your home or off site to get to know you and your vision. The cost is $970 + GST.
From this consultation, a tailored written report and Fee Proposal for your project is provided to you.
This report details how we visualise your requirements being achieved, our professional recommendations for design detail, the interior design stages, project fee and timeframe to achieve the end result.
If you decide to go ahead and work with Susie Miles Design on your project in the Complete Design Service, the initial consultation fee is reimbursed from the project design fee.
The project fee is based on the scope of your project.
2. WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?
In the Complete Design Service, we look at architectural plans and follow the client brief as detailed in the written report.
We start the design process by helping you identify your personal style.
We do this by creating a loose Moodboard of inspirational images and finishes for your spaces, to help establish a clear picture and design direction.
Susie Miles Design will source and present you with design concepts including all interior fittings, cabinetry, hard finishes and fixtures such as flooring, furniture, fabrics, window treatments and lighting tailored to suit your project.
We specialise in sourcing and specifying a wide range of interior products, fittings, fixtures and hard finishes. These may include tiles, timber flooring, carpet, natural stone, paint colours and cabinetry designs.
This process takes approximately 4-6 weeks and involves several briefing and presentation meetings.
During the course of your project we give you personalised interior design advice including access to specialised suppliers, manufacturers and tradespeople to custom make unique designs to suit your home.
We can liase with your builder and architect as required in collaboration with you, to develop the design together.
3. HOW WILL I SAVE MONEY USING SUSIE MILES DESIGN?
We work with key preferred and specialist suppliers who offer product options at better prices than you could obtain on your own. We then pass the savings onto you.
A good designer has an objective eye and will help you avoid making expensive design mistakes to achieve an inspiring outcome for your home that looks good, feels good and also saves you time and money.
We recommend selected tradespeople to work on your project including builders, painters and cabinetmakers.
Due to our longstanding association with these trades, they offer competitive pricing on their services.
We also coordinate and direct the trades supplied by Susie Miles Design.
We are flexible in the way we work with clients and can work with a variety of budgets, styles and timeframes.
4. WILL THE INTERIOR DESIGNER IMPOSE THEIR IDEAS ON MY HOME?
We guide you step by step through the design and selection process, a major time consuming stage where overwhelm can sometimes take over.
We start the process by asking our clients what look and feel they want to achieve, including what colours they want to be surrounded by.
We develop a loose Moodboard of ideas, colours, fabrics and finishes together with you. We then gradually help edit and refine your ideas to come up with a personalised style, colour scheme and design that reflects you and your lifestyle.
A good designer helps define your style, whether it’s classic, modern, minimalist or contemporary interior design.
5. HOW DO I KNOW YOU ARE THE RIGHT DESIGNER FOR ME?
We listen to your needs and aspirations, your ideal budget and above all, your personal preferences.
We seek to understand your requirements and challenges to communicate design concepts with greater accuracy and insight, so that together we achieve the ideal outcome for your project.
We can also arrange phone referral communication with satisfied clients.
